The first day I walked into this class, I was very excited and eager to learn new things about the camera and how to improve my photography skills. I first learned about the parts of the camera, types of cameras, and how the camera was carefully put together. Our first photo assignment was to take pictures that represent certain composition terms that we learned in class. Our last photo assignment (other than this post) was to submit our best photo. I took pictures of colorful cups reflecting onto a table in the sunlight. I changed my exposure triangle to help focus correctly on the subjects and to control the lighting. Between these two assignments, I learned so much that could be applied to every photo I take from now on.
In this class Photoshop was used quite a lot. Photoshop seemed difficult first glance but I figured it out in no time! I really enjoyed using this software because I could not only make minor edits to my photos, but I could create something completely different from what I had started with. I really liked this because I could create something with just a few clicks! Digital photography class was very fun and I am glad I took it!

For this assignment, I was supposed to choose a word and describe the word using a combination of photoshop and images from the internet! This assignment was fun and really interesting!
For this assignment, I was supposed to think of clever puns and use photoshop to make the pun without using words! This was a really fun assignment! :)
For this assignment, I took pictures of two different "empty" scenes and then four to five pictures of a person, in this case my friend Grace (check out her blog here!), then I used photoshop to merge them all together to create one photo with the same person in different areas! This assignment was really interesting and fun to do! :)
For this assignment I was supposed to take one portrait in the studio and one portrait using reflector boards. This was my first time taking photos in a studio and using a reflector board. Once I had taken the two photos I used photoshop to make a virtual frame! This assignment was fun!
For this tutorial I learned how to For th
I did this project with a friend, check out her blog HERE! Neither of us had ever light painted before and so this was very difficult in the beginning.
For this assignment, I was supposed to focus on a single color that would draw the eye to a main subject. I took this photo of a flower a few months ago and used photo shop to make everything, but the one yellow flower, black and white. I thought this was a fun assignment because it can really improve a picture!
Aperture: f/4.5 Shutter Speed: 1/30 ISO: 800 For this assignment, I took photos of Indian food and I edited some distracting reflections out of the photo with photoshop using the clone stamp tool.
For this assignment I had to decide on a theme and add pictures that would fit into my theme into a picture I took of the school. I chose Pandora from the movie Avatar. I learned how to add photos into other photos and how to create shadows in photoshop. I would like to have made the editing more detailed but I ran out of time as I changed my original idea and had to start over. This was really fun!
For this assignment I held a leaf up to the sky with the background in the back blurred out. I practiced using a low aperture to blur out the background so that the leaf was the main focus. I hope this captured the beautiful colors of fall!
This panorama photo assignment was very interesting as I learned how to "stitch" photos together in photoshop to make panoramas. I learned how to shoot a panorama and how to use a tripod.
For this assignment we were given an unedited photo of a car, taken by Noelle Jacobs, and what the photo should look like after editing it in Photoshop. I learned how to use new tools like the "selection tool" which was used many times to avoid painting over surfaces that I did not want to paint over and to change only a part of the photo so the other part was not affected. I used the "selection tool" to tint the windshield of the car and to avoid painting the car black. I also used a new tool, the "brush tool", to paint the background black. This assignment was fun for me because I like learning how to use the new tools and making photos seem "cooler" and more "professional" just with a few edits.
For this assignment we had to take the best photo we could of a certain subject, for example I chose nature. I learned how to focus my subjects better and how to control the lighting.
Shutter Speed- I learned how to use shutter speed to take pictures for this assignment. For these pictures I had Maddie Stewart (check out her blog here) slowly pour rocks out of her hands. I think it was very interesting because I now know how to show motion in pictures and how to capture fast moving objects. Aperture- I learned what and how to use aperture in this assignment. I took pictures of these berries and changed the aperture for each photo to show the depth of field. I think it was helpful to know how to do this so you can focus on an object better.
My name is Bella Patel. I am currently in 10th grade. I play piano, clarinet, and tennis. I love unleashing my creativity and taking photos of things that would look interesting! I was interested in Digital Photography, not only because the class fulfilled my tech requirements, but because I wanted to improve my photography skills. I have never taken a photography class before so I am very excited! |
